what's happening at pinecrest elementary

Dear PineCrest Elementary Families,

We have safely opened our building for our youngest learners and are now gearing up to bring in our next wave of 2nd and 3rd grade students on Monday, February 1st. The district will confirm our readiness on January 27th. On Monday, January 25th we will mail home re-entry information to these families. I will also send an electronic version of this information on Wednesday, January 27th just in case it does not reach you. It is key that families read over this information so that they are ready for the first day. The paper health attestation form that is included in this packet must be signed and set with your child on their first day of school.

Over the past two weeks we have continued to practice and fine-tune our safety protocols. We have also planned in preparation to welcome more students back.

There are a couple of important reminders that I would like to ask your support with for arrival and dismissal.

  1. Always take your child's temperature before sending them to school. We have had to send a small number of students home who have registered a temperature during our in-person health screening. Because a fever is a class A symptom, if your child is sent home with a temp 100.4 or above, they may have to remain home for 10 days. So, when you are answering the health questions, each morning, be sure to check your child's temperature.
  2. Always send your child to school with their health attestation initialed by you. If a child comes to school without their attestation signed, they are not allowed in their classroom. Their time in class is precious right now, and it is sad to see a student waiting in the lobby of the office while we try and reach you.
  3. Our student drop off area is not a place you can park and walk your student to class. If you want to park and walk your child, please utilize the large parking lot area, or walk from home.
  4. If you do use the student drop off or pick up area, please pull all the way forward. If you stop at the first parking spot, then traffic gets backed up or people must drive around you and then try and parallel park. So, please just keep pulling forward to open spots to allow for other drivers to pull in behind you.
  5. Be sure your child exits the vehicle on the curbside of the car. As traffic increases it is unsafe to have your child exiting the vehicle into passing traffic. Please adjust your car seats accordingly.

There is no school on Friday, January 29th. This is a snow make-up day, which we have not needed to use so far. Snow is in the forecast next week, so stay tuned to our district website for announcements. Our website will list any school closure information.

As always, we are here to support you. Please contact your child's teacher, or our main office if you have any questions.

Have a restful weekend and stay healthy!
