what's happening at pinecrest elementary

Dear PineCrest Families,

It is a great weekend to pull in all that lawn furniture and prepare for the rain. I hope you have a productive weekend and enjoy some crisp fall sunshine.

Masks at Dismissal -While our guidance allows for students to remove masks while outside, we are noticing that dismissal is making us nervous. Our buses typically do not arrive right away. Therefore, we have students waiting in lines that are not consistently socially distanced. In addition, we have many students waiting to be picked up by car near the flagpole. Our goal has always been to reopen our school and to KEEP it open. Therefore, we will be having our students remain masked during dismissal in order to ensure everyone's safety. Thank you for your support.

You Matter - Last week I shared the read-aloud You Matter. In an effort to help everyone feel that they matter at PineCrest, we have planned monthly activities for staff, students, and families. If you haven't had a chance, please watch the read-aloud with your child and complete this activity as a family. Feel free to email me or your child's teacher this year to share how these activities impact your family and their feelings about our school.

SBA Testing - Last spring, OSPI postponed our state testing. October 4th - October 15th students in 4th and 5th grade will participate in a modified version of this assessment. Here is more information.

Generous Donation to PineCrest -Recently, our Washington National Guard made a large donation to our school. Thank you for caring about our school and community!

PineCrest is on Facebook and Instagram! If you are not already doing so, please consider following us on social media. We post reminders for spirit days, family events, and school updates. We have created this flyer to help you find our pages. We love to connect with our families and many have shared that the social media posts help them to remember school activities.

Kettle Corn Fundraiser -Please join us for an important ASB Kettle Corn Fundraiser! Here is a flyer for more details!

Social-Emotional Learning -The pandemic has increased the mental health needs of our students at PineCrest. Our wonderful school counselor, Ms. Brown, is helping our school staff address these needs. Classroom teachers help this effort by teaching Second Step lessons. Please click on the links below to learn more:

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Have a restful weekend.
