Dear PineCrest Elementary Families,

PineCrest benefits from Title I funds each year. In order to receive these important funds, which help us provide reading and math interventions, we need to have familiescomplete a brief survey that shows our home-school connection and commitment. Please follow thelink to complete this brief compact.

As we move towards bringing grade levels back for 1/2 day in-person instruction, I know many of our families have questions about safety protocols, food service, etc... Our district is finishing up a Family Guidebook that will answer many of your questions. This should be available next week!

Plans are underway to begin in-person 1/2 day instruction for our pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade students. They will attend either an AM or PM session on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday starting November 9th. We are working on our arrival and dismissal procedures, as well as other safety information that we will communicate with families. Our routines and procedures will need to look different in order to keep our families and staff safe. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Bethany LaHaie

Principal

Dear PineCrest Elementary Families,

It looks like our weather is about to get soggy! Stay dry and warm!

I came across a helpful article for assistingyour child with their emotions during these uncertain times. Please read if you have time.

Hopefully you received the district communication regarding our preparations to have our preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students return on a modified schedule. I know many parents are anxious to hear more details. Early next week, we hope to send out information to our guardians that will inform you of your child's assigned schedule. Please contact your student's teacher or our main office if you have specific questions as we share more information with you. School will look different when your child returns. There will be many new protocols in place in order to maintain safety for our students and staff. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. We want to try and avoid bringing students back, only to have to return to remote due to health concerns. With that, I will say, I am very excited to welcome our youngest learners back to school soon.

Thank you for all of your efforts to help your children with their remote learning. We appreciate all the small and big steps families are taking.

Sincerely,

Bethany LaHaie

Principal

Dear PineCrest Elementary Families,

This week's family bulletin is focused on how we can continue to support you! We understand that these are challenging times and that schools are depended on for far more than just educating our students. Please read about all the other ways we can support:

CKSD is proud to serve free lunches for our students and families. We would appreciate you taking the time to fill out our Free and Reduced Lunch forms as these forms help our schools provide academic services for our students in addition to meals. Please review the guidelines and apply here:Lunchapp.com or download an application or to access form in Spanish.

We appreciate you taking a few minutes of your time to fill out this application if it applies to you and return to your school before September 30th.

If you are not able to access any of our 11 meal sites, we want to hear from you! Please complete the meal access survey and someone will call you back right away to discuss how we can meet your needs:

In addition, supports are available for families who are experiencing housing challenges. This might include families who are temporarily living in motels, campgrounds, shelters, friends’ or relatives’ homes or sharing housing with another family.

If you are living in any of these situations, please contact: Lisa Pitcher, PineCrest Elementary Learning Specialist at 360-662-9215 or Lisapi@ckschools.org

How much work has your child been turning in to their teacher? Please remember that attendance is tied to work completion. It is critical for your child to be engaged in their learning in order to not be marked absent. Reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions about attendance or need helpful ideas on how to get your child more engaged in their learning. If you need to review how we are taking attendance, please visit our websiteand click on Attendance Matters to read more!

Sincerely,

Bethany LaHaie
